Limerick Ode To A Giraffe Lover

Some zoo visitors are unspeakably stupid!

Limerick Ode To A Giraffe Lover
By Madeleine Begun Kane

Dear giraffe-fan, invading the space
Of a youngish giraffe invites chase.
I don’t care that it kicked you,
Right after it licked you.
You’re lucky you still have a face.

For those who don’t know the story, it seems a California woman, who’s overly fond of giraffes, climbed into a giraffe exhibit at a Madison, Wisconsin zoo. At that point, a “2-year-old, 12-foot-tall giraffe named Wally gave [her] a lick, then turned and kicked her in the face.” But though giraffes can kill lions, her injuries aren’t life threatening.

Open Limerick To Hubby Mark

I wrote this limerick in response to Mark’s post about being urged by Facebook to “like” Kim Kardashian’s page.

Open Limerick To Hubby Mark

Dear Mark, I don’t mean to sound prim,
But I’d rather you NOT be-friend Kim.
If you do, your IQ
(already askew)
Will drop points till your brain power’s dim.

Vacuous Limerick
By Madeleine Begun Kane

A vacuous gal who was vain
Had little upstairs, in the main.
But her body earned stares;
Men admired her wares,
Overlooking her thought-impaired brain.

Limerick Ode To The GPS

Monday, March 19th, 2012

Every so often, I read about someone who blindly obeys his car’s GPS and ends up under water. Here’s the latest incident, involving common sense-challenged Japanese tourists who try to drive to an island.

If your car’s GPS tells you, “Go,”
But there’s water ahead, you should know
That it’s better to park.
Check your map. Find an ark.
Or else gear up for driving in l’eau.

UPDATE: April 5 is Read A Road Map Day.
