While it’s true that Scott Pruitt is gone,
His policies do carry on.
Nothing really has changed;
Donald Trump’s still deranged
And will wreck our whole nation anon.

Scott Pruitt Scoffs At Carbon (Limerick)

Saturday, March 11th, 2017

EPA chief Scott Pruitt has stopped pretending to have a semi-open mind about climate science:

Climate scientists widely proclaim
Human action re carbon’s to blame
For our crisis, but Scott
(Although expert he’s not)
Disagrees. EPA chief? For SHAME!

Who Needs to Breathe? (Limerick)

Scott Pruitt is Trump’s nominee
For EPA head, cuz you see
A climate denier

Rising Oceans Aren’t Risible (Limerick)

Sunday, September 2nd, 2012

That Romney sure has quite the sense of humor. Here’s an example of his convention speech wit:

“President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans and to heal the planet. My promise is to help you and your family.”

The sea level’s rising, but Mitt
Treats that danger as grist for his wit:
Mocks a serious threat
With a joke that’s all wet—
A GOP cheer-swelling hit.

Haley’s Barbaric Attitude

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

While Govs. Bobby Jindal (R-La.), Charlie Crist (I-Fla.), and Bob Riley (R-Ala.) seem to take the Gulf oil spill crisis very seriously, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) has been downplaying the disaster, talking as if it’s a fictitious crisis created by the media.

For instance, according to Barbour, “tar balls are no big deal.”

The biggest negative impact for us has been the news coverage. …

Our tourist season has been hurt by the misperception of what is going on down here. The Mississippi Gulf Coast is beautiful. As I tell people, the coast is clear. Come on down!

That brings me to my latest limerick:

Haley’s Barbaric Attitude
By Madeleine Begun Kane

Don’t worry, be happy, says Haley,
In spite of the news we get daily.
Just ignore the press squeal.
The spill’s no big deal.

Must be nice to view crises so gaily.

You’d think that, in the wake of the BP Gulf oil disaster, raising oil spill liability limits would be a no-brainer, even for Republicans. But apparently not. Just ask Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), who blocked the Menendez-Nelson-Lautenberg “Oil Company Bailout Prevention Act,” a bill that would increase the liability cap for oil spills from $75 million to $10 billion.

Liability caps for a spill

But Sen. Lisa says “No!”
She’s protecting each co

They’d be hurt by such law, she maintains.
Such indifference to other folks’ pains!
Who will cover the bills
For the victims of spills?
It seems oil cos have Lisa in chains.
