An Invention With Bite (Limerick)

Do we really need this invention?

Coffee lovers may be able to get a shot of caffeine right from the toothbrush, if a patent from Colgate-Palmolive goes through.

No need for the double latte down the street: That caffeine could be administered through a patch while you’re polishing those pearlies.

According to the patent application, “The present invention pertains to an oral care implement generally, and more particularly to a toothbrush that releases a chemical into the mouth during use.”

An Invention With Bite (2-Verse Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane

Can’t wait for your morning caffeine?
Need a fix before brewing that bean?
Too rushed for that rush?
Well a fancy new brush
Could replace that caffeine-filled canteen.

I refer to a new application
For a patent. If granted, your ration
Of morning caffeine
Could arrive as you clean
All your teeth with your toothbrush. Ovation!

Ha, I don’t think that a coffee-flavored toothbrush would do the trick, says she who sits here with her coffee cup filled with the brew.

I hope you will be able to make some visits around Poetry Pantry. After a while the morale drops …….. Thanks, if you can.

  5. Nah. I’ll keep getting my caffeine in a cup thanks.

that seems a little counter intuitive…wonder how that affects the teeth…will it taste like coffee, heh…i can hope…smiles…

    I hate coffee breath!

    How about one about tea?
That would brew something special for me.
    Sipping tea that is green,
    with my teeth getting clean,
and sweet breath like a – Patisserie!

More CHEMICALS into mouth? Rotten-er teeth? Our food’s contaminated, our air has cars/trucks’ noxious, our lakes & rivers…MORE chemicals~~yummy. How lazy are we? 60% of us are obese…walk to the kitchen & pour. Let’s girlcott Colgate-Palmolive.

USDA must approve of biotechs planting new genetically engineered crops. A rider snuck into the must-pass budget bill protects Monsanto, DuPont, et al. by nullifying court actions to enforce laws that protect farmers, environment & public health.

  10. Hi, Mad.
A sweet limerick, thanks! I can always count on you to do it right. Nice meter and great word choice and word play. A lot of fun and I love the irony.

  11. I have definitely lived too long. What next? Hee hee.
