Raw Confusion Limerick

Raw Confusion Limerick
By Madeleine Begun Kane

I stare at my freezer, unglued:
I’m in “Indian leftovers” mood.
But it’s chaos in there.
Yes, from now on I swear
That I’ll label my freezer-bound food.

UPDATE: I just found out that November 29th is “Throw Out Your Leftovers Day.” And October 30th is Haunted Refrigerator Night.

LOL! Oh gosh, that sounds like my freezer! ☼

    My freezer is not in disorder;
twas recently cleaned by my daughter.
    Her work was precise–
    she kept just the ice!
And called it a leftover slaughter.

P.S. I grew up in Jersey, where order rhymes with daughter.

  3. Oh, does this one ever hit home, Madeleine! Can’t tell the leftovers from the fresh-frozen from the… bacon drippings! The best humor comes from truth and a willingness to make oneself appear a bit silly at times. Nicely done.

    a new day

Ha! Last week my chef-hubby took a container of “pasta sauce” out of the freezer. Have you ever had salsa pasta? Arrgh. You’ve touched on a universal problem here.

Looking into our freezer is like going on a treasure hunt. You never know what ya might find.

  7. Anonymous freezer food
Is the heart and soul of any stew.
    Throw it in the pot
    And stir it a lot
And remember brown gravy is the glue.

with kids in the house there’s no chance
they stare at the frig in a trance
    they swear “there’s no food”
    at least “nothing good”
so the food’s an illusion perchance?
