Peace-Loving Trump (2-Verse Limerick and Haiku)

Friday, December 5th, 2025

It’s no secret: The Donald’s long yearned
For the Peace Prize, an honor unearned.
Seems Nobel’s prize committee
Agrees that Trump’s shitty.
So Donald was rightfully spurned.

But that ISN’T the end of the story,
For there’s NO quenching Trump’s thirst for glory.
That’s where FIFA comes in:
Hands a fake “peace prize” win
To a brute who loves waging outlawry.

*********************

Bigly Trump Honor:
FIFA invents a “peace prize”
for needy Donald.

Sanguinity Challenges (Limerick)

Sunday, November 30th, 2025

I hear tell that it’s healthy and sage
To be sanguine, no matter your age.
But sanguineous Trump
Turned me into a grump,
So I often turn reddish with rage.

Retweet Madness (Limerick)

Headline: “The Babylon Bee Tricks Trump, But He Isn’t First Politician to Believe Satire Sites”

Thinking satire’s news, most agree,
Isn’t smart. But the Babylon Bee
Hoodwinked Trump who, defeated
By humor, retweeted
The “news.” Donald, next time tweet ME.

A Holiday Of Sorts (Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane

How I savored my marvelous break
From political venom — each snake
Of a pol now defanged,
And no one harangued.
At the time, though, I wasn’t awake.

Note: This limerick started out as haiku, inspired by the Twitter prompt word “venom.” But just as I was about to post it, I noticed I’d placed the word “break” (which has tons of rhyme words) at the end of line one. And it occurred to me to try to turn it into a limerick. Of course, as soon as the rhyme word “awake” hit me, I had my last line. So NOT writing a limerick would have been criminal.

Here’s my original haiku:

Imagine a break
from political venom–
puffed up pols defanged.
