Hasty Acrostic Limerick

Help! I can’t stop writing acrostic limericks! Here’s my latest:

Hasty Acrostic Limerick
By Madeleine Begun Kane

He who rushes ain’t likely to rate
And he’ll probably err and be late.
So take enough time —
To be careful is prime.
Easy does it. Perfection can wait.

  1. I like the acrostic limerick idea, works well. And this one is entertianing and good advice!

  2. Tilly Bud says:

Very good :) Written in haste, enjoy at leisure.

  3. Pat Hatt says:

    Perfection one will never obtain
So why rush down the lane
As there will always be more to do
    Continually driving you
So why go popping a vein

  4. Jesse Levy says:

    Good doesn’t describe this attempt
    Really it’s got me ferklempt
    Each rhyme that you do
    At worst makes me blue
To think that my mind’s all unkempt.

(these add an extra layer of tricky, don’t they?)

  5. dustus says:

  12. Mike Patrick says:

While your coffee is getting hot,
I’m at work, likely as not.
    You’re stuck in commute,
    to me it’s all moot.
My day is over, thanks a lot.

Thanks so much to all of you for your kind comments and verse!

  14. I like that last line, so comforting. Here’s my reply for a day I refuse to take that good advice:

    Sluggardly slow, easy to miss
    Handiwork of perfection’s kiss
    I can’t get it right
    I give up the fight
To sit in vinegar and piss

Oops…I just realized even though it’s not an acrostic…it almost says sh*t! haha…that was unintentional!

  15. Pat Cegan says:

What a combination: good advice, lemmerick, and acrostic. I bow to a master, your kindergarden student, Pat

  16. kaykuala says:

A limerick, I hope to emulate in my writings but haven’t done so. It is short and sweet. Now a twist, an acrostic at that. How nice! Beautiful!
