The Nasty Conductor (Limerick)

A nasty conductor named Flynn
Yelled, “What in the hell was that din?”
“Not my fault,” said a drummer.
“That gong is a bummer!”
“I’ve warned you,” said Flynn. “Don’t chime in!”

    The Berlin Philharmonic in town
    Found acoustics bringing them down.
    “What the heck, Davies Hall!
    Where our notes echo, all!
Is the architect playing the clown?”

(Davies Hall Of 1984 is notorious for poor acoustics in San Francisco.

Mary, the hall where the NY Philharmonic plays in Lincoln Center (David Geffen Hall) also has dreadful acoustics. (And it’s been redone at least twice.) On the other hand, Carnegie Hall has great acoustics. I know this both as an audience member and from both stages, as an oboe player.
