Limerick Ode To Truth-Telling

Limerick Ode To Truth-Telling
By Madeleine Begun Kane

Here’s a viewpoint espoused in the news:
There’s no truth — only differing views.
But when viewpoints are based
On lies, truth’s erased.
News outlets, you’ve failed us. J’accuse.

Happy Tell The Truth Day (July 7.)

Will fwd this provocative & exquisite beauty to my NYC Councilmember, Assemblywoman, State Senator, Congressman & both U.S. Senators…perhaps your luminous limerick [“Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient police officer.”~~Justice Brandeis] will inspire politicians to end their insidious & invidious remarks that no one buys. Many are untrustworthy & need nagged to stop fooling their constituents…make ’em know we’re listening. Your 1-verse limerick will be eyeballed as it’s not a heckling harangue. HBO’s “Veep” is a replica of D.C.’s insider phonies, liars, manipulators, ass-kissers, users…Mother Jones: “Veep’s scripts are known for their blitzes of carefully constructed, linguistically acrobatic profanity that’s acidic enough to qualify as minor human-rights abuses.” Truth has been asphyxiated in the lobbying halls of Congress, ouch…don’t accept lies–bust the liars! “Tell the Truth Day” means you can lie 364 days? Only Congress would come up w/b.s. like that.
