An old gentleman’s rep as a bard
Has been marred and, alas, deeply scarred.
He was caught using “near rhymes”
In lim’ricks; It’s clear rhymes
Imperfect are barred. Be on guard!

    Nearly Libel

    That’s misleading — a truth that’s a lie —
    that a mischievous lawyer would try.
    He used fear and severe
    that were flawless with near
    and he won’t let your lawlessness fly!
