To Emote, Or Not To Emote — That Is The Question (Limerick)

Three Word Wednesday asks us to use these three words in a poem: Emotion, Falter, and Touch.

To Emote, Or Not To Emote — That Is The Question (Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane

There are poets who write with emotion,
Touching readers with depth and devotion.
Such approach makes me falter
And muse: Must I alter
My whimsy? A risible notion!

(Also posted at Poetry Jam, who asks us to make a verb the topic of our poems.)

No, never ‘alter your whimsy’…..your rhymes delight me so…..

  2. brian says:

would make me laugh as well…risible, a cool word…write as you wish to write…i would say you garner emotion…at least the pain in my cheeks tells me so…smiles.

  3. Diane Groothuis says:

My ex-husband is tall, fair and Dutch
And doesn’t lack the common touch.
    Without a falter
    He leapt to the alter
    Full of emotion
    And not in slow motion

  4. Susan says:

If you wish. but keep the limerick too to knock it down a peg or two–like you just did!

  5. Sheilagh Lee says:

    no always write like you.

  6. Paige says:

my whimsy a risible motion – great line and very
    charming poem.

  7. Peggy Goetz says:

Writing with whimsy and humor — excellent emoting by my definition! I smiled at this one. I find limericks difficult so am aways impressed. Thanks for coming to Poetry Jam!

    Always entertaining! I love it!

You’re a wonderful whimsy! Reading you is refreshing, MK!

  10. LOVED it! Totally loved it! And I came to know a new word, ‘risible’. :D

Thank you for the nice read! :)

  11. Rinkly Rimes says:

I don’t know about you but I find comic writing comes more easily in verse and ‘the deep stuff’ needs less structure. I must say, for your eyes only, I find quite a lot of ‘deep stuff’ rather pretentious!

  12. Keep doing what you do best Madeleine!

  13. There is emotion in your whimsy: the joy it brings to the readers. Keep smiling :)

  14. Very clever to fit these in with the 3WW prompt words. Well done ;)

  15. Love this! Laughter and joy are quite important in the emotional spectrum, and you make delivering them seem so effortless!

  16. Brion Emde says:

    Emotions falter
    Common touches without grace
    Romney on Parade

    Faltering touches
    Emotion without substance
    Obama’s failures
