Not Panting To Wear Jeans (Limerick)

I find jeans to be patently uncomfortable. But I’m dutifully celebrating the birthday of its patent — granted to Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis on May 20th, 1873:

Call them denims or jeans — I don’t care–
That’s one garment I simply won’t wear.
I don’t buy the appeal
Of its look or its feel,
And I’d rather go naked. Don’t stare!

National Blue Jeans Day falls on December 5th.

Yep, I missed your “Not Panting to Wear Jeans” entry on the 20th. I was happy you re-posted it in the newsletter because it motivated me to submit a quick bit of an argument:

Denim and jeans are my fave
Yep, about ’em I’ll always rave
    Their comfort’s sublime
But I don’t have the time
To tell how their wearin’ I crave!

Loved ’em when they came just in blue
Today I don’t know what to do!
    Their colors wide and varied
    When dressing I’m harried
    Deciding’s just too much ado!

    Sally forth, poets and poetesses!
