Regifting Gone Wrong (Limerick)

Here’s a 2-verse limerick to celebrate National Regifting Day (3rd Thursday of December.)

Regifting Gone Wrong
By Madeleine Begun Kane

A woman was trying to sift
Through items to maybe regift.
But alas, she confused
The stuff she perused.
I suspect that some folks will be miffed.

A fruitcake went back to the sender,
And the same thing occurred with a blender.
Then a gift from her brother
Got sent to her mother.
Her relationships now need a mender.

i think we may still have an iron from our wedding….haha…fun limericks…

  2. Well, Mad Kane, you can best believe that I will be keeping the iPad that I just know you’re getting me this year, so you don’t have to worry about that. :>)

  3. Thomas Meine says:

Mother got a book from dad
who made it a gift for Pat
She gave it to her brother
who passed it on to mother
    …will it be every read?

  4. Ah, I love a cautionary Christams tale.

I hope you have a happy Christmas and New Year Madelaine, Cosmo.

  5. definitely have to keep everything straight if going to take a chance on regifting! {smile}

  6. Jack says:

Rhyming “miffed” and “-gift” was quite clever! I agree with the above, this is a relevant cautionary tale.

  7. Emma says:

  8. Jannpoet says:

So Cool Madeleine, Yes no doubt there will be a deluge on Trade Me, I personally think it is very bad taste but people will continue to do it. Very ungracious recievers me thinks. Have a lovley Xmas

  9. Oh Mad! I love laughing as the light is just beginning to arrive. Thank you for the big Sunday smile :)

    Wishing you Merry Christmas ~

  11. Judy Roney says:

Ha! This is a hoot. Also very timely right now. I did go to regift something that I thought was from my daughter and thought Id best not give it to the intended recipient no matter how much I thought she would enjoy it. Her mother-in-law, that is. LOL

  12. Libby says:

Still, I would like to see their faces receiving what was given.

  13. Tatius says:

Seems a good way to get nicer gifts, always give something you would like to receive :)

  14. Would like to see their faces when they opened these! Happy Holidays to you!!

  15. Serena says:

I actually got to see this happen once… luckily I was neither the giver nor the receiver and luckily everyone had a great laugh…

  16. That’s a good one!

  17. Kim Nelson says:

I giggled reading this one, Mad. The frugality and sensibility of regifting may have hit a hitch.

  18. Mary says:

    Made me chuckle!
