Radical Budget Haiku

I didn’t think I could do it. But I’ve summed up the Republicans’ radical (Paul Ryan-authored) budget plan in a single haiku:

Republican plan:
End entitlements, send wealth
to entitled rich.

*****

UPDATE: Prompted by a poetry site to include this trio of words in a poem (adamant, fabricate, peculiar) I challenged myself to fit them all into a single haiku:

Republican pols —
peculiarly adamant
fabricators.

Why didn’t the UK Conservatives think of that…? … Oh, they did… many years ago!
    Spot on post!

LOL! Thanks Stan! I thought surely I’d have to turn it into a tanka. Seventeen syllables sure was a challenge this time. :)

What a rich source of humour and poetry are politics and politicians. It seems only right that as they play with their lives we play with them.

Excellent!!!! Two haiku that are very apt for what is happening in Finland right now. General election coming up, and the Conservative leader is actually crying real tears in public because the True Finns party is making great gains.

    Brilliantly penned, Mad!

  24. Madeleine, of course, you know our politics match. If you ever made it to Madison, you would find yourself awash in the kind of hypocrisy that makes for excellent poetic fodder for such as we. Loved both takes, particularly your use of all three words in such a compact poem! Amy
