Yard Yarns (Limerick and Haiku Prompt)
Today’s limerick and haiku theme is yards and/or gardens. First, my limerick:
I admit that I’m bad with a rake,
And disposing of leaves makes me quake.
So that pile—I ignored it,
But then was rewarded
With saplings—benign neglect’s wake.
And here’s my haiku:
Milk, juice, chicken breasts
Plunged into backyard snow drifts:
My fridge on the fritz.
Now, of course, it’s your turn. Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to write a limerick or haiku (or both) about yards and/or gardens. When you’ve posted your verse, please return here and add a direct link to your themed poetry, using Mr. Linky.
(If you need some tips on limerick or haiku writing, I link to some helpful sites here.)
NOTE: This post was inspired in part by Read Write Poem’s tree prompt and Sunday Scribblings’ rooted prompt.

wonderful limerick and haiku! i am all for letting that rake go unused, you’re right just look at the reward that could come of it. and i just had a friend whose fridge went kapoot — and, yes, she took advantage of the cold winter snow until she got a new one

How handy is winter? Fun stuff, as always…

Here’s my limerick:

This one was really fun. With a houseful of preteens (for a slumber party), I found myself writing in mini-morsels.

It sounds like you don’t have much of a green thumb either according to your clever limerick. Can’t say I have ever had to make use of the snow as a fridge yet. Your poems are clever. Keep up the good work. Have a nice night.

And here’s the haiku:

It took me a while to get back to this, as I had to light the birthday candles, serve the cake, and get the movie marathon started. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
;-)
Blessings,
Linda

I loved the limerick you posted. That’s hilarious! I had a similar experience, but with slightly riper materials:

I hope your fridge is fixed before the spring thaw! (Don’t tell anyone - I have birthday cake chilling in my garage!)

I looked at all the lawns around and wondered why did we spray in the fall? hmmm.

The tree liimerick is great! I need to remember it every time I beat myself up over my shabby yard.
Lighthearted haiku too. Great way to work hand in hand with the weather.

I just happened to have a haiku laying around that fit this category! Thanks!
