The Definitive Bad Date

The Definitive Bad Date (Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane

A salty young gal is enraged
When she learns that her date is engaged,
So she curses the fellow—
Spews hate with a bellow,
Then shoots. Guess her anger ain’t staged.

NOTE: This limerick was loosely inspired by the inaugural edition of Totally Optional Prompts, which is an outgrowth of the late, lamented Poetry Thursday.

I haven’t heard a limerick for ages and I enjoyed this, especially with its murderous twist.

I guess her rage isn’t staged. It’s uncanny how you can write so many limericks, a difficult form which I’ve tried and failed miserably. Bravo.

    Storyblogging carnival - March 2nd…

For this month’s blog carnival, I’m honoured to be the host.
We’ve had some great stories that I’ve gone over and read, and I’m awed to be in the presence of such brilliant writers – I can’t say that I was disappointed with or didn’t like one…
