Bulletproof Backpacks: In Case Your Kid’s Classmate Is Packing
It’s mid-August, which means back-to-school day is just around the corner. And that in turn means it’s time to start shopping for school supplies: rulers and notebooks and pens and lunch boxes and calculators and computers and school clothes and … bulletproof backpacks???
“We’re just trying to give kids a defensive tool to use in case something does happen,” Curran said of the backpacks, which sell for $175 US. …
Since they started selling online last week, they’ve sold out of their initial stock of several hundred backpacks and are now ordering a new shipment from Massachusetts.
Methinks this calls for a limerick:

Selling bulletproof backpacks? How sad!
Could the safety of schools be so bad,
That parents must buy
Such an item? Oh my!
Are they needed, or just a mad fad?
So parents, would you ever clad your kid in a bulletproof backpack? Take this poll and let us all know:

In my day we just carried a sack
With a sandwich (baloney and jack)
Maybe cake for a treat,
Since we weren’t packin’ heat
We had no need to cover our back.

Considering where i live(Philly) has the highest of murder rate, a man just got shot to death around the corner, stabbed to death across the street, an old lady attacked by a crackhead for money, yes. I’m getting one today. Its all relative to where you live. And for some place, it is not a joke.

With the recent school shootings (2 seperate schools in the last week) I think those guys at MJ SafetySolutions are on the right track with the My Child’s Pack bulletproof backpack. I didn’t realy think about it too much, but now I am changing my thinking. I hate to think about my kids having to have a bullet resistant shield, but it in this world, I think giving them some piece of mind, might be worth it.
