This resource list, created in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, is a work-in-progress and will be updated regularly. Please contact Madeleine Begun Kane: madkane@madkane.com with corrections and suggested additions.
(Note: On Sept. 16, 2001 I was notified that the Red Cross "is literally overwhelmed with blood donations right now... When we're really going to need more donations is in the coming weeks and a month from now. People can call 1-800-givelife and make an appointment for the future when donations are expected to naturally have fallen off. It may be hard to get through on that number; there may be a wait on the line, but it will be much shorter than the hours at the blood centers without an appointment. It may not be as viscerally rewarding in the short term, but it will be hugely more effective... PS: Blood types O and Rh are particularly needed.")
