Taegan Goddard posted a  debate video of Democrat <a href=\"http:\/\/politicalwire.com\/archives\/2010\/10\/18\/when_rivals_annoy.html\">Rep. Ed Perlmutter and Republican challenger Ryan Frazier<\/a> along with this comment: &#8220;Note to candidates: No matter how annoying your opponent may be, don&#8217;t slap them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So I click on the video, expecting to see an actual slap.  Instead I see two men in a heated debate, both of whom are gesticulating wildly and invading each other&#8217;s space, and one of whom (Frazier) is being incredibly annoying.<\/p>\n<p>Physical contact was inevitable the way both men were moving their arms and hands.  And so at one point, Perlmutter&#8217;s hand brushed Frazier&#8217;s hand, and Frazier actually said:   \u201cEd, don\u2019t hit me man, come on!\u201d  Then Perlmutter, who certainly hadn&#8217;t hit Frazier, got all milk-toasty, saying:  \u201cSorry. Sorry. You\u2019re right. Sorry. You\u2019re right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So now Permutter&#8217;s getting a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/battle10\/250023\/slaphappy-co-7-perlmutter-slaps-frazier-literally-wvideo-over-health-care-candidates\">slaphappy<\/a> rep, and everyone&#8217;s arguing about nonsense, instead of the issues.  Even<a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2010\/10\/congressman-perlmutter-impetuously.html\"> Ann Althouse finds the whole thing silly.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And that brings me to my latest limerick:<\/p>\n<p>When Is A Slap Not A Slap?<br \/>\nBy Madeleine Begun Kane<\/p>\n<p>This motion described as a slap<br \/>\nWas barely the teeniest tap:<br \/>\nA mere touch &#8212; nothing more,<br \/>\nCuz each man moved galore.<br \/>\nThey should each keep their hands on their lap.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Talk about your faux controversies!
