And that&#8217;s a handy thing to remember in the battle over the soon-to-expire tax cuts. <\/p>\n<p>While we&#8217;re busily recalling important facts, here&#8217;s another: These tax cuts were set to end automatically by the very Republicans who are now complaining about their expiration.<\/p>\n<p>And now, my latest three-verse limerick:<\/p>\n<p>Tax Cut Tomfoolery<br \/>\nBy Madeleine Begun Kane<\/p>\n<p>Bush&#8217;s tax cuts are due to expire.<br \/>\nTheir effects were quite bad &#8212; even dire.<br \/>\nThe deficit climbed,<br \/>\nThe economy slimed.<br \/>\nSo why are the Dems under fire?<\/p>\n<p>These cuts were a GOP plan<br \/>\nBy the millionaire&#8217;s tax-cutting clan.<br \/>\nThey promised a boost,<br \/>\nBut the tax cuts produced<br \/>\nA big mess.
