{"id":3250,"date":"2010-06-07T01:17:05","date_gmt":"2010-06-07T05:17:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/madness\/?p=3250"},"modified":"2010-06-07T01:17:05","modified_gmt":"2010-06-07T05:17:05","slug":"mark-kirk-limerick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/madness\/2010\/06\/07\/mark-kirk-limerick\/","title":{"rendered":"Kirk&#8217;s &#8220;Factual&#8221; Quirks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It turns out that Mark Kirk&#8217;s problems with the truth go well beyond <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/madness\/2010\/06\/03\/hatch-blumenthal-kirk\/\">exaggerating his military resume.<\/a>   As the Chicago Sun-Times reports, the Illinois Republican nominee for U.S. Senate has a habit of telling <a href=\"http:\/\/www.suntimes.com\/news\/politics\/2358138,CST-NWS-kirk06.article\">international tall tales<\/a> about Iranian oil imports, France&#8217;s handling of pirates, and the China-drilling-for-oil-off-the-Cuban-coast fable.<\/p>\n<p>Are these deliberate lies?  Or is Mark Kirk woefully ill-informed?  I&#8217;m not sure, but neither explanation would speak well of a would-be senator who&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonmonthly.com\/archives\/individual\/2010_06\/024124.php\">ostensibly an expert in foreign affairs.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That brings me to my latest limerick:<\/p>\n<p>Kirk&#8217;s &#8220;Factual&#8221; Quirks<br \/>\nBy Madeleine Begun Kane<\/p>\n<p>Mark Kirk is astoundingly lax<br \/>\nWhen he spouts international &#8220;facts.&#8221;<br \/>\nBe it China or France<br \/>\nOr Iranian rants,<br \/>\nHe&#8217;s deceptive and wrong to the max.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It turns out that Mark Kirk&#8217;s problems with the truth go well beyond exaggerating his military resume.
