{"id":3171,"date":"2010-05-23T15:09:05","date_gmt":"2010-05-23T19:09:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/madness\/?p=3171"},"modified":"2010-05-24T19:55:34","modified_gmt":"2010-05-24T23:55:34","slug":"rand-paul-humor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/madness\/2010\/05\/23\/rand-paul-humor\/","title":{"rendered":"Republican Pols &#8212; Off or On the Rand-Wagon?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the wake of his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2010\/05\/explaining-the-rand-paul-disaster\/57118\/ \">humiliating interview<\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com\/_news\/2010\/05\/21\/4323347-new-york-times-gets-rand-paul-wrong\">Rachel Maddow&#8217;s<\/a> MSNBC show, Rand Paul has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonmonthly.com\/archives\/individual\/2010_05\/023929.php\">serious<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aolnews.com\/nation\/article\/rand-pauls-position-on-civil-rights-too-hot-even-for-liberatarian-stalwarts\/19485872  \">Civil Rights Act problem<\/a>.  It&#8217;s so bad, that he&#8217;s already <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonmonthly.com\/archives\/individual\/2010_05\/023907.php \">flip-flopping<\/a> (or pretending to flip-flop) over his views and he was even <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonmonthly.com\/archives\/individual\/2010_05\/023925.php\">scared into canceling<\/a> his scheduled Meet the Press interview. <\/p>\n<p>But Rand Paul isn&#8217;t the only guy with a problem &#8212; his fellow Republican pols have one too.  What do I mean? Well, eventually they&#8217;ll have to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonmonthly.com\/archives\/individual\/2010_05\/023938.php\">choose sides<\/a>: Either stick up for the Republican nominee with the <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2010\/05\/21\/paul-bp-unamerican\/ \">insane<\/a> views and maintain party loyalty, or <a href=\" http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/GMA\/2010_Elections\/rand-paul-fires-back-critics-civil-rights-act\/story?id=10705651\">disavow Rand Paul&#8217;s views<\/a> and be seen by many as disloyal to the GOP.  Good luck with that.<\/p>\n<p>This brings me to my latest three-verse limerick:<\/p>\n<p>Republican Pols &#8212; Off or On the Rand-Wagon?<br \/>\nBy Madeleine Begun Kane<\/p>\n<p>The Sen. nominee known as Rand<br \/>\nIs as odd as they come in this land.<br \/>\nHe says cos are endowed<br \/>\nWith this right: All&#8217;s allowed.<br \/>\nPaul would give them a fully free hand.<\/p>\n<p>If they want to be racist, they may.<br \/>\nBlock the Jews from their doors?  That&#8217;s okay.<br \/>\nCuz the gospel of Paul<br \/>\nIs no biz regs at all.<br \/>\nSo feel free to go fire a gay.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican leaders must choose<br \/>\nTo decry (or endorse)  these mad views.<br \/>\nThere is no in-between.<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s no hiding, I mean.<br \/>\nBack the Tea Party Guy, and they lose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the wake of his humiliating interview on Rachel Maddow&#8217;s MSNBC show, Rand Paul has a serious Civil Rights Act problem.
