{"id":147,"date":"2007-08-27T17:37:35","date_gmt":"2007-08-27T21:37:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/madness\/2007\/08\/27\/dirty-white-house-complains-about-gonzales-mud\/"},"modified":"2007-08-27T17:37:35","modified_gmt":"2007-08-27T21:37:35","slug":"dirty-white-house-complains-about-gonzales-mud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/madness\/2007\/08\/27\/dirty-white-house-complains-about-gonzales-mud\/","title":{"rendered":"Dirty White House Complains About Gonzales &#8220;Mud&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Poor Alberto Gonzales!\u00a0 During those countless (and fruitless) Congressional hearings, Gonzales had but one job &#8212; protect George Bush.\u00a0 And so he lied, obfuscated, feigned amnesia, and did everything he could to muddy the truth.\u00a0 Consequently,\u00a0this <a href=\"http:\/\/weblogs.chicagotribune.com\/news\/politics\/blog\/2007\/08\/bush_gonzales_dragged_through.html\">George Bush line, made during the Gonzales resignation announcement,<\/a>\u00a0made me laugh out loud:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It\u2019s sad that we live in a time when a talented and honorable person like Al Gonzales is impeded from doing good work because his good name was dragged through the mud for political reasons.\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Of course, the\u00a0obvious question is &#8220;What good name?&#8221; But putting that aside,\u00a0 Bush fails to mention the provenance of all that mud.
