It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> I’m very pleased to announce the winning Limerick of the Week and the Honorable Mentions:<\/p>\n

Congratulations to BRUCE NIEDT<\/a> who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

A fellow was famous worldwide
\nFor solving the odd homicide.
\nWhen his friend asked, \u201cWhat schools
\ngave you such helpful tools?\u201d
\n\u201cElement’ry, dear Watson!\u201d he cried.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Ira Bloom, Madeleine Sara Maddocks<\/a>, Johanna Richmond, Robert Basler<\/a>, and Daisy Mae Simon<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

A woman was famous worldwide,
\nBut for what, it is hard to decide.
\nHaving sex on the web?
\nAs a partying deb?
\nI don\u2019t know, but she\u2019s fun to deride.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Madeleine Sara Maddocks:<\/p>\n

A fellow was famous worldwide
\nFor being incredibly wide.
\nWhen his doctor said \u201cNo!
\nAll this blubber must go,\u201d
\nHe considered his options were fried.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Johanna Richmond:<\/p>\n

A fellow was famous worldwide
\nBecause often he publicly cried.
\nBut astute folks took note:
\nHis emotional bloat
\nExpressed only his oversized pride.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Robert Basler:<\/p>\n

A fellow was famous worldwide
\nFor marketing fruit that was dried.
\nFolks loved that his prunes
\nDidn\u2019t need any spoons
\nYet they still did the same thing inside.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Daisy Mae Simon: <\/p>\n

A woman once famous worldwide.
\nWelcomed all to New York\u2019s harbor side:
