It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> I’m very pleased to announce the winning Limerick of the Week and the Honorable Mentions:<\/p>\n

Congratulations to David McCormick a\/k\/a AdamantYves<\/a> who wins Limerick of the Week for this clever verse:<\/p>\n

A love-smitten gal was irate
\nWhen H. Lecter, (her beau), turned up late;
\n“My regrets,” he said quickly,
\n“My tummy felt sickly,
\n“It’s probably someone I ate.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Jesse Levy<\/a>, Kay Saladay<\/a>, Johanna Richmond, and Phyllis Sterling Smith a\/k\/a Granny Smith<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

\nHe was lazy and greedy
\nAnd boy, was he needy.

A love-smitten gal was irate
\nWhen her guy showed up late for their date.
\nThe smell of perfume
\nDrifted into the room.
\nThen her love quickly turned into hate.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Johanna Richmond:<\/p>\n

A love-smitten gal was irate
\nWhen her man fled the deli mid-date:
\nHer pickle juice trickle
\nMade lover-boy fickle;
\nHe took his knishes too –\u2013 great!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Phyllis Sterling Smith a\/k\/a Granny Smith<\/p>\n

A love-smitten gal was irate
\nThat her chatter seemed starting to grate.
\nShe talked up a flurry.
\nHe left in a hurry.
\nShe joined “on-and-on anon.” Late.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
