I\u2019m very pleased to announce the winning Limerick of the Week and three Honorable Mentions:<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Johanna Richmond, who submitted two excellent limericks. Johanna wins Limerick of the Week for this clever verse:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A woman was terribly late<br \/>\nFor her first in this century date.<br \/>\nShe later confessed<br \/>\nShe skipped getting dressed<br \/>\nAnd skyped in her natural state.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And congratulations to the Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Edmund Weisberg, <a href=\"http:\/\/phyllisophy.blogspot.com\/\">Phyllis Sterling Smith a\/k\/a Granny Smith<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/versebender.wordpress.com\/\">VerseBender<\/a>.  Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n<p>Edmund Weisberg:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A fellow was terribly late<br \/>\nHaving died in the midst of his date,<br \/>\nLeaving diners aghast<br \/>\nAt the lurid repast,<br \/>\nAs his date polished off ev\u2019ry plate.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Phyllis Sterling Smith a\/k\/a Granny Smith:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A fellow was terribly late<br \/>\nUnderstanding the current debate.<br \/>\nWhen told that inflation<br \/>\nWould ruin the nation<br \/>\nHe asked, &#8220;Are we all overweight?&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>VerseBender:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A fellow was terribly late<br \/>\nWhich didn\u2019t sit well with his date.<br \/>\n\u201cMy promise of heaven<br \/>\nWas valid at seven<br \/>\nBut promptly expired at eight.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Congratulations again to all the winners for your wonderful limericks. And thanks to everyone for your fun submissions.
