The question surprised me, because I was certain this couldn&#8217;t be true.  As it turns out, I&#8217;ve written quite a few since then, but never got around to posting them on this blog.  For instance, here&#8217;s a quartet of acrostic limericks I wrote in 2019 for a contest, but forgot (until now) to post on my blog: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><br \/><strong>I<\/strong>\u2019m alarmed when mosquitoes come near.<br \/><strong>T<\/strong>hey adore me, I fear. Ev\u2019ry year,<br \/><strong>C<\/strong>ome what may, I get bitten.<br \/><strong>H<\/strong>ow come? Cuz they\u2019re smitten.<br \/><strong>Y<\/strong>es, THAT\u2019S why I\u2019m scratching my rear.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>A<\/strong>n acrostical challenge in verse<br \/><strong>L<\/strong>eads this poet to mutter and curse;<br \/><strong>P<\/strong>enning lines so constrained<br \/><strong>H<\/strong>as my mind frazzled, pained,<br \/><strong>A<\/strong>s each version, perversely, is worse.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>A<\/strong>nxiety\u2019s cloud, oh so dense;<br \/><strong>N<\/strong>eurosis can make you feel tense.<br \/><strong>G<\/strong>etting out of your chair<br \/><strong>(S<\/strong>omehow going somewhere)<br \/><strong>T<\/strong>ends to help, so let healing commence.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>H<\/strong>ow I love to draw laughs or a smile,<br \/><strong>U<\/strong>sing lim\u2019ricks to banish the bile<br \/><strong>M<\/strong>any people amass.<br \/><strong>O<\/strong>nly wit helps it pass;<br \/><strong>R<\/strong>hymed verse \u2026 for when life\u2019s feeling vile.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For an upcoming interview, I was asked why I hadn&#8217;t written any acrostic limericks since 2015.
