It’s “National Dictionary Day,”<\/a> which gives me a good excuse to post a limerick about another new-to-me term: “Dawn Chorus.”<\/p>\n

(For the record, all the names have been changed to protect the guilty.)<\/p>\n

“Let’s go back to that lovely ‘Fowl Inn,\u2019”
\nSaid my spouse, quite forgetting its din.
\n\u2019Twas no use telling Boris
\n(A bull-headed Taurus)
\nThat its dawn chorus drove us to gin.<\/p>\n
