It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using HEEL or HEAL at the end of ANY ONE LINE.<\/strong> (A homonym or homophone not listed here may be used in lieu of the designated rhyme word.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to FLIGHT, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best FLIGHT<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on April 3, 2022,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my HEEL or HEAL-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

\nPlaying poker, Neil felt like a heel.
\nBut he gambled with passionate zeal,
\nUsing cash that was meant
\nFor rent — ev’ry cent.
\nSo his win was a very big deal.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my FLIGHT-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

\nOur beagle’d chase felines with glee.
\nThe game? Trap or make the cat flee.
\nBut one day, Duke stood guard
\nFor hours in our yard;
\nSeems our dog had barked up the wrong tree.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
