It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using TRACK at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner.<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to PHONES, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best PHONE<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on May 30, 2021,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my TRACK-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

\nUnder pressure, my voice tends to crack,
\nWhich upsets me and sends me off track.
\nNo I’m not a young male,
\nBut a gal whose words fail
\nWhen I need them the most; I’m a flack.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my PHONE-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

\nMy life without smart-phones ain’t tough.
\nSo your pity, I’ll always rebuff.
\nI’ve no call for complaint;
\nThough a smart-phone it ain’t,
\nMy “smart-enough-phone’s” up to snuff. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
