It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using PLOT at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner.<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to DRONES, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best DRONE<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on May 2, 2021<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my PLOT-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

\nA woman at work on a plot
\nFor a book that she hoped would be hot,
\nRead an excerpt aloud
\nTo a writers’ group crowd.
\nSomeone scoffed: “Is the author a bot?”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my DRONE-themed Two-Verse limerick:<\/p>\n

“I do NOT want to own a damn drone,
\nNo matter how easily flown.
\nIt’s the last thing I’d buy,
\nAnd I can’t fathom why
\nYou keep spamming me. Leave me alone!<\/p>\n

“How I got on your list, I don’t know.
\nWas my email supplied by a foe?
\nMay your sales and drones crash!
\nAnd here’s a hot flash:
\nDo NOT hold your breath for my dough!”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
