It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using STATE or ESTATE at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to CO-WORKERS, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best CO-WORKERS<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on March 28, 2021,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my State\/Estate-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

\nMy neighbor was fined and then jailed.
\n“I will NOT wear a mask he had wailed!”
\n“It’s not up for debate,”
\nSaid the judge. “In this state,
\nWe follow the rules, and you’re nailed.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my Co-Workers-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

My cubicle-mate just resigned.
\nI’m relieved; he’s a boor unrefined,
\nWho chomps coffee beans — gross!
\nGlad to say “Adios!”
\n(Enough bitching! It’s back to the grind.)\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
