It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using Locks or Lox or Lochs or Lawks at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner.<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to Instruments, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best Instruments<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on January 31, 2021,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my Locks\/Lox\/Lochs\/Lawks-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

“See that gal over there? What a fox!”
\nSaid a man of a woman whose locks
\nWere curly and long
\nAnd worthy of song.
\nBut the rest of her? More like an ox.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my Instruments-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

\nA musician I know plays the lute,
\nAnd her husband is gifted on flute.
\nThey duet ev’ry day
\nOn their instruments. Hey!
\nYour mind OUT of the gutter, you brute!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
