It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using COLD at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner.<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to KNITTING, SEWING, and\/or OTHER NEEDLEWORK CRAFTS, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best KNITTING, SEWING, and\/or OTHER NEEDLEWORK CRAFTS<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on January 17, 2021,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my COLD-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

\nA lamb on the lam disappeared;
\n“I’ll be eaten for dinner,” it feared.
\nBut when found, wet and cold,
\n“You’re not food,” it was told.
\n“But we DO need our weeds and brush cleared.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my KNITTING, SEWING, & OTHER NEEDLEWORK CRAFTS-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

I\u2019m begging: Don\u2019t ask me to knit,
\nCuz whatever I make, it won\u2019t fit.
\nI am dreadful at \u201cthrowing.\u201d
\nThe same goes for sewing.
