It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using SPELL or DISPEL OR MISSPELL at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to CONFESSIONS, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best CONFESSION<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on November 22, 2020,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my SPELL or DISPEL OR MISSPELL-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

A pickpocket, locked in a cell,
\nDescribes it as “nitemarish hell.”
\nNow the skell’s penned a book;
\nHopes to sell it by hook
\nOr by crook. But the schnook just can’t spell.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my CONFESSIONS-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

\nA fellow confessed he was bi
\nTo his wife, who replied “I won’t lie;
\nI’m upset.” (Her tears flowed.)
\n“So here’s what I’m owed:
\nA three-way with you and your guy.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
