It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using SINK or SYNC at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to PUNCTUATION, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best PUNCTUATION<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on June 21, 2020,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 4 p.m.<\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my SINK\/SYNC-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

I’m teetering right on the brink,
\nAnd it feels like my life’s out of sync.
\nI’m off of my feed.
\nSo what do I need?
\nA shrink? Or another stiff drink?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my PUNCTUATION-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

“You’ve a problem: You drink too much, pop.”
\nThat comma’s essential – full stop!
\nCuz without it the drinker
\nIs any old stinker…
\nAnd the bev’rage? Non-alcohol slop.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
