It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using RING or WRING at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to FEAR, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best FEAR<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on April 12,2020<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my RING\/WRING-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

If I tell you to “give me a ring,”
\nPlease know I’m not asking for bling.
\n(That would take lots of gall!)
\nNo, I just want a call…
\nThough I’d settle for text or a ping.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my FEAR-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

Excess staring can make women fearful;
\nEspecially looks that seem leerful.
\nAnd pandemics will boost
\nThe unease that’s induced…
\nLike right now, I’d prefer someone sneerful.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
