It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using CUE or QUEUE at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner.<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to SIN, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best SIN<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on January 19, 2020,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my CUE\/QUEUE-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

A teenager caught playing pool
\nAfter ducking out early from school,
\nCut classes anew
\nThe next day — right on cue.
\nAnd was handed a dunce cap and stool.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my SIN-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

\n

Show me someone who never feels guilt,
\nAnd I’ll bet that he sins to the hilt,
\nThat his attitude’s cocky,
\nHis love life is rocky —
\nWilted conscience all muddied with silt.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
