It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using VEER or SEVERE or REVERE or PERSEVERE at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to SNOW, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best snow<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on January 5, 2020,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you four full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my VEER-rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

When you’re driving your car, please don’t veer;
\nSudden moves tend to fill me with fear.
\nSteer carefully, please.
\nOuch my elbow! My knees!
\nWe’ve arrived? I’m still living? Hear, hear!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here\u2019s my SNOW-themed limerick:<\/p>\n

\nThe weatherman\u2019s acting excited:
\nNew York City\u2019s about to be smited
\nWith a snow storm real big,
\nWhich I really don\u2019t dig.
\nAnd just why must he look so delighted?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
