It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using DUMP at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner.<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to CUISINE, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best CUISINE<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on June 2, 2019,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my DUMP-Rhyme limerick: <\/p>\n

We found a cute house we adored,
\nAnd it’s one we can even afford.
\nBut our plans hit a bump;
\nIt’s one mile from a dump,
\nSo when wind hits, the smell is unt’ward.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here’s my CUISINE-related limerick:<\/p>\n

A young fellow was spilling the beans:
\n“My sister’s been feeding her greens
\nTo the dog and the cat.”
\nShe was called on the mat
\nAnd then caught with cuisine in her jeans.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
