It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks using RACE or ERASE at the end of any one line.<\/strong> (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Additionally,<\/strong> you may write themed limericks<\/strong> related to CONDUCTORS, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best CONDUCTOR<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the winners on March 24, 2019<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you two full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my limerick: <\/p>\n

Though his conduct has been a disgrace,
\nHe’s reformed and he hopes to erase
\nHis transgressions from searches,
\nCuz Google besmirches;
\nHe’s harmed by each truth-telling trace.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And here’s my conductor limerick:<\/p>\n

When audience members still cheer
\nA conductor whose meter’s unclear
\nAnd whose gestures and cues
\nMislead and confuse,
\nCount on this: He looks cute from the rear.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
