And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick(s) as a comment to this post and, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/madkane\/posts\/10156190155469315\">if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing limericks <strong>using Peer or Pier or Appear at the end of any one line.<\/strong>  (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n<p>The best submission will be crowned Limerick-Off Award Winner. (Here\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/2018\/12\/16\/limerick-off-award-312\/\">last week\u2019s Limerick-Off Award Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additionally,<\/strong> you may write <strong>themed limericks<\/strong> related to <strong>Jewelry, using any rhyme word.<\/strong> And of course I\u2019ll present an extra award \u2014 one for the best <strong>Jewelry<\/strong>-related limerick.<\/p>\n<p>How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here&#8217;s my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/humor_blog\/how-to-write-a-limerick\/\"><em>How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll announce the winners on <strong>January 6, 2019,<\/strong> right before I post the next Limerick-Off. So that gives you <strong>three full weeks<\/strong> to submit your clever, polished verse. Your <strong>submission deadline is Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:00 p.m. <\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s my limerick: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We ordered some wine and a beer<br \/>\nAnd waited for both to appear.<br \/>\nBut neither drink came.<br \/>\nEmpty noggin to blame?<br \/>\nWe got eggnog &#8230; instead of good cheer.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Please feel free to enter my Limerick-Off by posting your limerick(s) in my comments.
