It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to BRIAN ALLGAR, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

The lion would lazily stride
\nRound his patch, or just lie on his side.
\n\u201cHunt for dinner? Nah, this is
\nA job for the missus –
\nIt\u2019s housework, and I have my pride.\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Dave Johnson, Will T. Laughlin<\/a>, and Fred Bortz<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Dave Johnson:<\/p>\n

With Lady Godiva astride,
\nThey went for a notable ride.
\nWhat the villagers saw
\nWasn\u2019t sanctioned by law;
\nBut some were left swollen with pride.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Will T. Laughlin:<\/p>\n

Quoth the alchemist, glowing with pride
\nAt his latest alchemical stride:
\n\u201cWith this potion, behold!
\nI shall never grow old!\u201d
\n(Then he choked as he swallowed, and died.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fred Bortz:<\/p>\n

The GOP hopefuls have tried
\nTo convince us that science has lied.
\nBut as temperatures soar
\nAnd the superstorms roar,
\nThe facts are just hitting their stride.<\/p>\n

All but one, Lindsay Graham, denied
\nThat we all need to act ere we\u2019re fried.
\nBut alas, every poll
\nShows him deep in the hole.
\nHis chances have practically died.<\/p>\n

And his other views? I can\u2019t abide.
\nSo I\u2019ll never be found on his side.
\nIn November sixteen
\nThere\u2019ll be no in-between.
\nI\u2019ll vote Clinton or Sanders with pride.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
