It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to JON GEARHART, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

For golfers who\u2019ve struggled in vain
\nI\u2019ve decided to finally explain
\nMy special golf diet.
\nI know once they try it
\nThat par snips on greens they\u2019ll retain.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Kirk Miller, Kathy El-Assal, Les a\/k\/a Colonialist<\/a>, Bob Dvorak, Tim James, and Will T. Laughlin<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Kirk Miller:<\/p>\n

There once was a woman named Jane,
\nWho from heroin couldn\u2019t refrain.
\nShe attempted to quit,
\nBut then had to admit
\nThat her efforts were, sadly, in vein.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kathy El-Assal:<\/p>\n

\u2019Twas apparent she wasn\u2019t Mark Twain.
\nHer attempts to get laughs were in vain.
\nSo she wrote a French thriller
\nWith taxi cab killer
\nWho drives all his victims in Seine.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Les a\/k\/a Colonialist:<\/p>\n

In vain he consulted the vane
\nIn seeking a windfall to gain;
\nBut how winds will blow,
\nOne never can know,
\nSo, done in that vein, it\u2019s a pain.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bob Dvorak: <\/p>\n

I\u2019ve struggled at length, but in vain:
\nIs the Donald an ass, or insane?
\nBut what media sells
\nAin\u2019t his open-mouthed yells,
\nBut the size of his overdone mane.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tim James:<\/p>\n

Henry Higgins enunciates \u201crain\u201d
\nThen he goes on and on in that vein.
\nHis repeated refrain
\nOn the weather in Spain
\nIn the main gives me pain. Is that plain?\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Will T. Laughlin:<\/p>\n

We get high in a church, me \u2018n\u2019 Jane,
\nAnd they catch us. We try to explain:
\n\u201cWe\u2019re just trippin\u2019 on Jesus!\u201d
\nThey still come and seize us,
\nFor \u201ctaking the Lord\u2019s name in vein.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
