It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to BYRON MILLER a\/k\/a Errol Nimbly, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

Astronomers once had the gall
\nTo proclaim, “The world’s round, like a ball.”
\nBut soon findings empirical
\nProved it non-spherical;
\nSlightly deflating them all.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Fred Bortz<\/a>, Kirk Miller, Brian Allgar, Will T. Laughlin<\/a>, Phyllis Sterling Smith a\/k\/a Granny Smith<\/a>, Dave Johnson, Jon Gearhart, and Allen Wilcox. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Fred Bortz:<\/p>\n

The cannibals started a brawl
\nOver who got what portion of Paul.
\nThey battled for dibs
\nOn the meatiest ribs,
\nWhile the chieftain was having a ball.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kirk Miller:<\/p>\n

When making some holes rather small,
\nA leather punch started to bawl.
\n\u201cWe\u2019re stuck in this job,\u201d
\nIt said with a sob,
\n\u201cAnd that is the fate of us awl.\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brian Allgar: <\/p>\n

She was wearing a costly mink shawl,
\nAnd the bimbo explained to them all:
\n\u201cIt\u2019s a gift from a guy
\nWho just wanted to cry,
\nCuz he said to me, \u201cBaby, let\u2019s bawl.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Will T. Laughlin:<\/p>\n

Oh, please don\u2019t disturb Doctor Hall.
\nCutting gonads in slices so small
\nMay yet give the answer
\nTo testicle cancer,
\nAnd right now, he\u2019s halving a ball.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Phyllis Sterling Smith:<\/p>\n

When Sally slipped down in a fall
\nShe really had reason to bawl.
\nBut balling for Sally
\nIs right up her alley
\nFor Sally has no shame at all.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dave Johnson:<\/p>\n

Scalia and Thomas will bawl
\n\u201cThis week has been no fun at all.
\nOur cadre of five
\nDid no longer strive
\nTo answer the G.O.P.\u2019s call.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jon Gearhart:<\/p>\n

Found her name in a men’s bathroom stall
\nAnd decided I’d give her a call,
\nBut I feel quite misled
\nBy these words that I read:
\n“Call Caitlyn and you’ll have a ball!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Allen Wilcox:
\nA WEEK OF BALLS, WITH REFRAIN<\/p>\n

We\u2019re having a civil rights ball.
\nThe Confederate flag has to fall.
\nThere is much more to do
