It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to BRIAN ALLGAR, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

His face was beginning to slide;
\nTransformation could not be denied.
\nAs each blotch and each freckle
\nAppeared, Dr Jekyll
\nHad nowhere to turn but to Hyde.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Colleen Murphy<\/a>, Sue Dulley, Brian Allgar, Jon Gearhart, Will T. Laughlin<\/a> and Judith H. Block<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Colleen Murphy: <\/p>\n

My favorite waterpark ride
\nIs where folks are propelled down a slide.
\nIt tickles my heart
\nTo see man and suit part,
\nThen scramble to cover his hide.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sue Dulley:<\/p>\n

As a student of Pure and Applied
\nMathematics, I had to decide
\nWhich of these two would Rule
\nWhile I stayed at that school –
\nI regret that I let them both Slide.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brian Allgar: <\/p>\n

Our host showed us slide after slide
\nOf the day that he married his bride,
\nTill a bang and a spark
\nPut us all in the dark —
\nThank the Lord, his projector was fried.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jon Gearhart:<\/p>\n

My last girlfriend was music’ly tied
\nTo a brass group, and when she applied
\nHer whole mouthpiece just right,
\nShe could trombone all night
\nMaking use of each inch of your slide!<\/p>\n

All her musical talents aside
\nShe was s’posed to become my young bride.
\nBut alack and alas
\nSuch a fine piece of brass
\nAlways keeps other mates on the slide.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Will T. Laughlin:<\/p>\n

A coy Early Music fan sighed
\nFor a man with a very long slide.
\n\u201cOh please,\u201d cried the miss,
\n\u201cWon\u2019t you give us a gliss?\u201d
\n\u201cMy sackbut\u2019s Baroque,\u201d he replied.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Judith H. Block, who also illustrates her limerick:<\/p>\n

He stared at the Waterworld slide:
\n“This is something I’d never abide,
\nUnless smoking some herbal,
\nFor I am a gerbil!
\nOn dry land is where we reside.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
