It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to GARY HENDERSON, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

Since her kitty was always quite wet,
\nShe consulted the neighborhood vet.
\nHe prodded and poked.
\n“I’d do more,” he half joked,
\n“But really, we’ve only just met!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Brian Allgar, Sue Dulley, Kirk Miller, Fred Bortz<\/a>, Charley Simmons, Will T. Laughlin<\/a>, Allen Wilcox, Dave Johnson, and Tim James. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Brian Allgar: <\/p>\n

He was famed for superb \u201cCrepes Suzette\u201d;
\nAll the food critics loved him, and yet
\nIn his \u201cBeef Cannelloni\u201d
\nWere kitten and pony –
\nThe chef bought supplies from a vet.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sue Dulley:<\/p>\n

A man tours the world on a jet
\nWhile thousands of dollars in debt.
\n“Thank goodness” he smiles
\n“For aeroplan miles,
\nOr I might have to sell the Corvette.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kirk Miller:<\/p>\n

In southeastern Asia I met
\nA veterinarian, Brett.
\nHe has moved to the States.
\nHis competitor hates
\nThat he says he\u2019s a Vietnam vet.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fred Bortz:<\/p>\n

A vigorous volatile vet
\nHad a vibrating viperous pet.
\nVoracious for voles,
\nIt victimized moles.
\nHis rattler’s named “Rodents’ Regret.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Charley Simmons:<\/p>\n

A gal took her hound to the vet
\nWith a story he hadn\u2019t heard yet:
\n\u201cI bent over this morning.
\nHe jumped me — no warning.
\nTrim his nails. He\u2019s my favorite pet.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Will T. Laughlin: <\/p>\n

When the kids go to bed, don\u2019t forget:
\nWe must always take care not to let
\nGrandpa put \u2019em to sleep.
\nThough his kindness runs deep,
\nHe\u2019s forgetful … and once was a vet.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Allen Wilcox:<\/p>\n

Those running so far are all wet.
\nWe know little about them, and yet,
\nThey\u2019re all dogs, one can see–
\nAlmost all GOP.
\nIt\u2019s clear that they all need a vet.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dave Johnson: <\/p>\n

The sax player wanted to vet
\nA new drummer to join his quintet.
\nHer style was just right
\nAnd he hoped that he might
\nOne day soon get to play with her set.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tim James:<\/p>\n

She\u2019s a sight that I\u2019ll never forget:
\nLean and muscular, curvy and wet.
\nI caress her, and she
\nOpens up, welcomes me.
\nI so loves me that cherry-red \u2019Vette.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
