It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The sailors, all drunk on Jim Beam,
\nLie strewn below-deck. It would seem
\nThat a nuclear sub
\nIs no place for a pub,
\nUnless Sub Bourbon Sprawl is your scheme.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Kirk Miller, Sue Dulley, Brian Allgar, Dave Johnson, and Will T. Laughlin<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

When I compliment folks, it does seem
\nThey\u2019ll be more self-assured and they\u2019ll beam.
\nIt will boost the morale
\nOf a guy or a gal,
\nSo give praise and just let off esteem.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sue Dulley: <\/p>\n

Twelve builders, a highly-skilled team
\nEnjoying their lunch on a beam
\nUp somewhere near heaven–
\nWait, now there’s eleven,
\nWhich may just explain that loud scream.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brian Allgar:<\/p>\n

The Sun was eclipsed \u2013 not a beam! –
\nAnd the Moon, for a while, reigned supreme.
\nBut her plan to usurp
\nWas as brief as a burp,
\nJust a transient lunatic scheme.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dave Johnson: <\/p>\n

Way up goes another steel beam;
\nTo be placed like a stitch in a seam.
\nWe\u2019re here in Dubai
\nWhere they reach for the sky
\nWith the cash from unleaded Supreme.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On the seventh day (trashed on Jim Beam),
\nGod grew bored \u2014 and came up with a scheme:
\nHe laughed as He stuck
\nSome spare parts from a duck
