It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Congratulations to WILL T. LAUGHLIN<\/a>, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny acrostic limerick:<\/p>\n

P<\/strong>lutocracy claims wealth\u2019s a prize,
\nR<\/strong>ewarding hard work. It\u2019s all lies:
\nI<\/strong>n fact, many show
\nZ<\/strong>ero skill making dough,
\nE<\/strong>xcept when a relative dies.<\/p>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Tim James, Dave Johnson, Allen Wilcox, Brian Allgar, and Fred Bortz<\/a>. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Tim James, whose limerick is directed to a Benjamin Franklin quote: <\/p>\n

Mr. Franklin, you need to apprise
\nEv\u2019ry man: if he\u2019s early to rise
\nAfter early to bed,
\nHe\u2019s got rocks in his head
\n\u2019Cause his lady will date other guys.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dave Johnson:<\/p>\n

She thought she might win the big prize
\nOn that show with those glamorous guys.
\nBut a singer she ain\u2019t;
\nHer voice blistered paint.
\nNow she\u2019s back once again serving fries.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Allen Wilcox:<\/p>\n

All members of Congress must rise
\nTo show that they know that it’s wise
\nTo continue all fights
\nFor strong civil rights,
\nBy keeping their ayes on the prize.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brian Allgar: <\/p>\n

Dr. Spooner said: \u201cI must apprise
\nMy detractors – your jokes are unwise.
\nI tell you,\u201d he grumbled,
\n\u201cMy stung never tumbled;
\nIt\u2019s all been a great lack of pies.\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fred Bortz:<\/p>\n

He cannot believe what he spies.
\nWhat a rack, what great ankles and thighs!
\nBut the view from behind
\nIs what\u2019s blowing his mind.
