It\u2019s Limerick-Off time, once again. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same rhyme word. Then you post your limerick as a comment to this post and, if you\u2019re a Facebook user, on Facebook too<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll join me in writing a limerick using either “hair” or “hare” at the end of Line 1 or Line 2 or Line 5<\/strong>. (Homonyms or homophones are fine.)<\/p>\n

The best submission will be crowned Limerick Of The Week. (Here\u2019s last week\u2019s Limerick Of The Week Winner<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

How will your poems be judged? By meter, rhyme, cleverness, and humor. (If you\u2019re feeling a bit fuzzy about limerick writing rules, here’s my How To Write A Limerick<\/em><\/a> article.)<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll announce the Limerick of the Week Winner next Sunday, right before I post next week\u2019s Limerick-Off. So that gives you a full week to submit your clever, polished verse. Your submission deadline is Saturday at 10:00 p.m.<\/strong> (Eastern Time.)<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s are my two limericks, one for “hair” and one for “hare.”<\/p>\n

When a man lost a race by a hair,
\nHe objected: “I won. It’s not fair!
\nBoth my feet got there first.
\nBut it seems that I’m cursed
\nCuz I’m bald. Just his mane beat me there.”<\/p>\n

and<\/p>\n

A woman had offered to share
\nA meal with her boyfriend — roast hare.
\nHe responded, “Not funny!
\nIt looks like my bunny.”
\nThen he fled to she doesn’t know where.<\/p>\n
