It’s time to announce the latest Limerick of the Week based on submissions (on this blog and on Facebook) in last week’s Limerick-Off.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Congratulations to TIM JAMES, who wins Limerick of the Week for this funny verse:<\/p>\n

At work, I\u2019m surrounded by brains.
\nWith an ardor that none of them feigns,
\nThey read Einstein and Bohr,
\nStephen Hawking and more,
\nWhereas my speed is more Dick and Jane\u2019s.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And congratulations to these Honorable Mention winners (in random order) Robert Basler<\/a>, Robert Schechter<\/a>, Brian Allgar, Tim James, Sue Dulley, Craig Dykstra, and Konrad Schwoerke. Here are their respective Honorable Mention limericks:<\/p>\n

Robert Basler: <\/p>\n

A zombie who eats people’s brains
\nMakes sure they are not mixed with grains.
\nHe may be undead,
\nBut he still can’t eat bread,
\nSo a gluten-free guy he remains.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Robert Schechter:<\/p>\n

A fellow with plenty of brains,
\nEconomist John Maynard Keynes,
\nFamously said
\n‘In the long run we’re dead,’
\nSo be glad that the short run remains.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Brian Allgar: <\/p>\n

Today, I am using my brains
\nElsewhere than on rhymes and refrains,
\nFor although it\u2019s not funny,
\nThe \u201cday job\u201d makes money,
\nWhich cannot be said of Mad Kane\u2019s.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tim James:<\/p>\n

A man who was more brawn than brains,
\nTo \u201cimprove\u201d his appearance took pains
\nTo remove all his hair
\nAs his weight he would pare.
\nTo sum up, then: he waxes and wanes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sue Dulley:<\/p>\n

If athletes donated their brains
\nConcussion research could make gains,
\nSo when you depart
\nPlease hand over your heart
\nAnd those other remaining remains.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Craig Dykstra:<\/p>\n

I’ve been missin’ a gal who’s got brains
\n‘Cause her head’s filled with clever quatrains,
\nAlso lovely haiku
\nPlus a lim’rick or two.
\nWhose brains you say? Madeleine Kane’s!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Konrad Schwoerke:<\/p>\n

I get sick when I eat someone\u2019s brains.
\nThough I puke, all their knowledge remains.
\nI make billions of dollars
\nFrom munching on scholars;
\nSo what if they\u2019re ill-gotten gains?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
